Bahawalpur: The forest department has announced its plan for the preservation and eco-conservation of Lal Sohanra National Park at the cost of PKR 120 million, according to news published on Sunday (October 10).

According to news sources, Punjab Planning and Development (P&D) Department floated tenders to invite companies to work at the park. Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Ijaz Ahmed Tabbasum, sharing details about the project, revealed that a natural habitat will be developed on an area of 2,700 acres for nourishment and breeding of nilgai, chinkara deer, and blackbucks. It was also disclosed that the park will have indigenous tree specials and local grasses such as jand, beri, and keekar. The Lal Sohanra National Park will also have 54 open water ponds for animals.

Moreover, the eco preservation of the natural habitat is expected to be complete within two years. The maintenance responsibility of the habitat will be shared by the local community. The forest officer stated that the tenders will be floated by the end of the month.
