Lahore: The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) on Monday inaugurated the second urban forest of Lahore, called ‘Miywaki’, at Faisal Town- Block-C, a news source reported. As per the publication, PHA Director-General (DG) Muzaffar Khan planted a sapling during the event and reiterated the authority’s commitment to counter environment-related problems.

The said forest is inspired by the Miyawaki Method conceived by Japanese botanist Akira Miyawaki. DG Khan revealed that that the PHA would plant 12 more urban forests in different parts of the city. The civic body has planted 350 trees so far, including black and white mulberry, Bauhinia tree, mango, java plum, and a bamboo tree.

DG PHA further said that plants were essential to the life of humans, animals and birds, and that they could help us fight the hazards of climate change. PHA Director Mudasar Ijaz, Deputy Director Waqar, Director Zone-5 Misbah-ul-Hassan, and other senior officials of the department were also present during the inauguration ceremony.
