The foundation stone for the project was laid earlier in May and the cost of completion was estimated to be PKR 1.09 billion. The project’s contract was awarded to Maqbool Associate and the company was tasked with completing the development work within four months.
The 540-meter long dual carriageway was constructed to reduce traffic load on Firdous Market Chowk – a junction for traffic heading to and from Gulberg via Cantt. The crossing will accommodate approximately 91,000 vehicles on a daily basis.
