Lahore: Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) is implementing Supervisory Control Data Acquisition (SCADA) system which is going to enable remote monitoring and management of all disposal and pumping stations, according to a news story. All of these will be run by the Command and Control Centre (C&C) which will help in efficient resource utilisation.
According to news sources, this has come after a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between WASA and the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB). This will relieve the problems associated with manual operation of the systems and create a more efficient system, while also increasing chances of live monitoring of these pumps and generators. WASA Managing Director Zahid Aziz has said that these will enable monitoring of water levels in the wet wells. While Chairman PITB Dr. Umar Saif added that these state of the art systems will ensure efficient management and service delivery.
