Lahore: City Traffic Police (CTP) on Thursday announced its decision to issue fine tickets to commuters found travelling within the city without masks, a news source reported. The measure comes following the Punjab government’s implementation of the ‘no mask, no service’ policy.

In this regard, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Hammad Abid said that the CTP had formed eight special teams for enforcing the said policy and other health guidelines. He said that the CTP had collaborated with the city district government to constitute these teams.
CTO Abid revealed that the city traffic police would deploy these teams at different locations of Lahore. He said that traffic wardens would also receive briefing on this front and perform their duties across the provincial capital.

The CTO requested the commuters in the city to wear masks. He warned the citizens that they would face strict action over violation of the SOPs. He highlighted that protection of lives was not possible without the public’s support during these tough times.
