Lahore: The concept paper for the Purple Line Train project has been approved by the Provincial Development Board, according to a news report. The summary for the project will be sent to the Central Development Working Party for a final approval. The project, which is estimated to cost PKR 200 billion, will be funded by the Asian Infrastructure Bank, China.
The Purple Line Train will link the Allama Iqbal International Airport to Datta Darbar. Reportedly, the project has been included in the priority list of the Government of Punjab. Planning and Development Chairman Jahanzaib Khan has instructed the Punjab Mass Transit Authority to bring the project cost down for the Purple Line Train.
According to the initial concept papers submitted to the Development Board, the train track will have 16 stations. Six kilometres of the track will be underground in the form of a tunnel, while ten kilometres of it will be elevated.
