Sialkot: The 91.4-kilometer long Lahore-Sialkot Motorway is all set for completion in August 2019, a news source quoted the Sialkot Deputy Commissioner Syed Bilal Haider. Haider shared this information while chairing a meeting organized to brief him on the project.
The meeting was also attended by Member National Assembly Chaudhry Ghulam Abbas, National Highway Authority Assistant Director Mohsin Naqvi and Sialkot Chambers of Trade and Industry ex-President Engineer Khawar Anwar Khawaja.
The project to expand the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway was approved by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council back in May 2017. The motorway will have seven interchanges to connect adjoining rural and urban areas: Daska Interchange, Kala Shah Kaku Interchange, Shauwala Interchange, Muridkey Interchange, Narowal Inchange, Wahndo Interchange and Dharmkot Interchange.
The estimate cost of the four-lane motorway is PKR 4.38 billion, and it is to be completed in four sections. Development work on the 21-kilometre section 1, which connects Kala Shah Kaku with Muridke, is in its final stages of completion. The asphalt work in section 1 has been completed. While earth-filling work on all sections of the motorway has been completed.
The Lahore-Sialkot Motorway link connecting Kala Shah Kaku with Muridkey is expected to open to traffic this month, according to Lahore-Sialkot Motorway Project Director Muhammad Asif Qasim.
