Lahore: Provincial Minister for Housing, Urban Development, Industry, and Commerce Mian Aslam Iqbal has shared that the Lahore Master Plan 2050 is in the final stages and will address the industrial and commercial issues, according to news published on August 30.

The Punjab government mentioned that the Lahore Master Plan 2050 will cover issues related to commercialisation, residential land use, agriculture, industrialisation, urbanisation, etc. As per the details, the land in Muzaffargarh has been identified for setting up an industrial zone. The minister has stated that establishing a business-friendly environment in Punjab is a top priority of the government.
It is pertinent to note that the LDA had launched the second round of consultation for the master plan via hearings and public notices in order to get viable input from the public.

A senior official of LDA (whose name was not disclosed) mentioned that the final draft of the Lahore division Master Plan 2050 will be submitted to the LDA next month. After reviewing it, the management will send it to the internal review committee. Once the review committee gives a go-ahead, the plan will then be forward to the provincial scrutiny committee headed by Secretary Housing. For the final approval, the plan will be sent to the LDA’s governing body, after which the master plan will be notified and enforced.
