Lahore: Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Director General (DG) Aamir Ahmed Khan has said that the Master Plan 2050 will ensure improved urban facilities for citizens of the Lahore Division over the next three decades, news sources reported on December 19.

The director general made these announcements while addressing a ‘public hearing’ organised by the LDA and Environment Department on the Master Plan 2050. In his address, DG Khan said that Master Plan 2050 has been prepared with the help of national and international consultants, engineers and the suggestions of common citizens.
He highlighted that the master plan will be particularly useful for all kinds of urban and rural facilities including road networks, agriculture, economic and residential activities, transportation, green areas, education and health. This also includes strategies to address the menace of illegal housing schemes in the Lahore surrounding.

DG Khan also said that special measures have been taken to preserve heritage sites, treat wastewater, conserve rainwater, and eliminate pollution and smog. Answering public queries, DG LDA said that special attention is being given to the Hudiara drain and three wastewater treatment plants will be installed to address the health problems arising from it.
It is important to mention that Chief Minister (CM) Pervaiz Elahi has already approved the Lahore Master Plan 2050 last month with special provisions to start work on the project at the earliest.
