Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Engineering Wing has awarded the National Engineering Services of Pakistan (NESPAK) a contract to prepare the feasibility report on the proposed construction of the Karim Block underpass — with the facility aimed at improving the traffic flow in the area, according to a news source. As per the publication, this information was shared during a recent meeting chaired by LDA Director General Sameer Ahmed Syed.

During the meeting, the attendees were informed that NESPAK had already initiated the process to conduct the a project feasibility report on linking the underpass project to either Karim Block or Wahdat Road. As per the plan, the underpass is expected to provide a direct link to the Canal Bank Road near Punjab University — with the project aimed at helping to fix the traffic situation in the area.

Additionally, the meeting also approved development schemes worth PKR 500 million for various projects in Lahore, including:
- Road linking Green City with Barki Road Interchange on Lahore Ring Road
- Repair and rehabilitation of roads in Johar Town Block G-3
- Khayaban-e-Firdousi Remodeling project
- LDA City Access Road to Ferozepur Road
- Road repair projects in Model Town Extension Blocks R and S
Furthermore, the meeting members took the opportunity to demand that certain revisions be made in LDA Avenue-I development schemes, and also made the decision to shelve the plan to build pedestrian bridges on Wahdat Road and near Data Darbar.
