Lahore: Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar recently revealed that water reservoirs would be developed in the city to preserve rainwater, a news source reported. As per the publication, the government will also establish surface water treatment plants to reinforce the underground water table.

The CM chaired a meeting on Wednesday in his office to review proposals about the utilisation of wastewater and installation of wastewater treatment plants. He informed that surface water treatment plants would be established in various tehsils of the city in phases. He also issued strict orders regarding the imposition of a ban on growing vegetables through wastewater; as he believed that ailments and diseases had increased in Lahore and other cities of Punjab because of this practice. Formal legislation will be formed to stop the said activity, he concluded.

The said rainwater reservoirs are set to be developed in various areas, including Mehmood Boti, Shahdra, Bund Road, Babu Sabu, and Shadbagh.
