Lahore: The Pakistan Railways (PR) recently announced that the launch date for the Lahore-Gujranwala shuttle train service is to be February 24, according to news sources. As per the publication, all preparations for the launch event have been completed — with Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmad expected to inaugurate the service in Gujranwala.
Similarly, in order to meet the public demand, the PR’s Lahore division has made the decision to expand the Lahore-Raiwind train service route to Kasur. In this regard, a formal notification is expected to be issued soon.

It has been notified that the one-way fare from Lahore to Gujranwala will be Rs100 and the train is expected to make three round trips between the two cities daily. In addition, the train will have the following stopover points: Badami Bagh, Shahdara, Kala Shah Kaku, Muridkey, Sadhoki, Kamoki and Emanabad stations.
The Pakistan Railways has revived the shuttle train service between Lahore and Wagah Railway Station that had previously been suspended due to security concerns. The train employed on this route has an estimated capacity of 181 passengers.
