Lahore: The Punjab Government recently approved PKR 40 billion for various development projects in Lahore, reinforcing infrastructure growth and urban improvement efforts. The news is sourced from an article on February 20.

According to the details, the announcement came during a high-level meeting focused on reviewing the progress of development initiatives across the province. Discussions covered project transparency, fund utilisation, and quality assurance measures to ensure timely completion.
In the housing sector, significant progress has been made under the “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” scheme, with 80 houses completed within four months and a record number of loans issued to facilitate homeownership.
Beyond real estate, substantial investments have been directed toward healthcare, agriculture, and heritage conservation. The province has upgraded 1,250 basic and rural health centres, established 1,200 dispensaries, and completed 432 health projects, with a second phase now in progress.
To support farmers, PKR 50 billion has been distributed through the Kissan Card program for tractor purchases, while PKR 9.5 billion has been allocated for the tube well scheme. PKR 2.5 billion has already been utilised, and an additional PKR 6 billion will be provided.
Other initiatives include the restoration of five archaeology department schemes, expected to be completed by March. Additionally, between November 1 and February 10, 32 large-scale development projects underwent monitoring and assessment.

The overall development budget for Punjab has increased from PKR 882 billion to PKR 1,048 billion, with PKR 693 billion already released and PKR 401 billion spent. Currently, 547 development schemes are underway, including 81 special projects, 815 general initiatives, and 3,007 district-level schemes. Continuous inspections and monitoring are being conducted to ensure project efficiency and impact.
