Lahore: Special Assistant to Chief Minister (SACM) Punjab Hassan Khawar on Thursday (December 30) said that Punjab will soon launch its first modern Lahore Downtown project in Lahore Central Business District (LCBD), news sources reported. The project will be followed by the launch of Lahore’s first Digital and Residential City.

Reportedly, the proposed Lahore Downtown will have blue roads, an underground traffic system, facilities for pedestrians, smart trees, an uninterrupted power supply and the facility of the internet of things (IoT). He also said that the government has launched the LCBD with PKR 100 million investment, while it has generated PKR 40 billion through the auction of land so far. He said the project will cross PKR 100 billion by March 2022, and PKR 200 billion by March 2023. The government is aiming at generating business activities of up to PKR 2,500 billion from this business district. It is important to note that Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan inaugurated the Central Business District (CBD) project in March 2021.

The project was launched at the site of the old Walton Airport. The project concept design includes multiple highrises, business and residential projects aimed at harvesting the benefits of vertical living. The project is said to be Pakistan’s first smart and green construction initiative
