The bus service will start from Model Town and end at the Old Airport, passing through Garden Town, the Data Ganj Bakhsh shrine and other areas. CM Elahi revealed this new initiative at the inauguration of Kalma Chowk Remodeling Project and opined that the bus service will help the city develop a sustainable transportation system and promote affordable commutes. As per the plan, a French company, which has surveyed the Blue Line, will also assist in implementing this project. The project will be built on a Build, Operate, and Transfer (BOT)-basis with funding from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) at a 2% infrastructure loan interest rate. On the occasion, Elahi also announced the division of Lahore into three separate districts to improve service delivery.

It is worth noting that Lahore is the country’s second-most significant metropolis, with a growing demand for economical and sustainable urban transportation solutions. The city now operates three main mass transit projects: the Orange Metro Line, Metro Bus, and Red Line bus service. However, as the city’s population grows, more resources are required to service it.
