Lahore: The Lahore district administration recently instructed all assistant commissioners to identify appropriate locations to set-up langar khanas in the city, a new source reported. As per the publication, this decision was originally relayed by Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar and was made on the behest of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Similar work, aimed at the development of facilities to provide food for the significant number of underprivileged people in the city, has officially been initiated. In this regard, the city assistant commissioner paid a visit to Chowburji and inspected various spots to set-up the langar khanas. The provincial government is expected to begin development of the free facilities as soon as the city administration identifies an appropriate location.

Lahore Deputy Commissioner (DC) Danish Afzal chaired a meeting in order to come up with a comprehensive plan for a steady supply of food to these new facilities, particularly by utilizing leftover food to feed the impoverished communities of the city. The session included representatives of Akhuwat, Awari Hotel, Pearl Continental Hotel, Bundu Khan, Ziafat and members of the union representing marquees and wedding halls.
