Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered the city administration to develop 15 parking plazas in various locations of the city to address the worsening parking problems, news sources reported on December 19.
According to sources, the parking plazas spanning 156 kanals would have a total parking capacity 12,000 automobiles. A feasibility report to this effect has been completed, as well as the capacity of each parking plaza and location. As per the report, four parking plazas will be constructed in the old Lahore walled city. The following is a breakdown of the remaining parking options:

- A five-level parking plaza with the capacity to house 500 vehicles will be constructed near the Railway Station, which will be spanning eight kanal, two marla land area
- A five-level plaza with the capacity to park 500 automobiles will be constructed at Hali Road, Gulberg
- An eight-level parking plaza with the capacity to house 734 vehicles and a land area spanning over six kanals will be built outside the Dehli Gate.
- A seven-level parking plaza with the capacity to house 1,173 vehicles and a land area spanning over ten kanals will be built at Mochi Gate
- A seven-level parking plaza with the capacity to house 1,061 vehicles, and a land area spanning over ten kanals will be built at Masti Gate
- Another plaza with a parking capacity of 1,610 vehicles will be built at Shah Alami market
- A nine-level parking plaza with a capacity of storing 875 vehicles will be constructed at MM Alam Road
- A two-level parking plaza at Neela Gumbad and a three-level parking plaza will be built at Lohari Gate

It is important to note that the increasing number of vehicles on roads during peak hours have resulted in traffic jams leading to delays for the commuters in Lahore. Most of the traffic jams are also caused by the roadside car parking that reduces the drivable road.
