Karachi: The Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) has decided to set up its own police station in a bid to curb water theft in the city, a news source reported.

A meeting to this effect recently took place between KWSB Managing Director Asadullah Khan and Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) Dr Ameer Sheikh.
The KWSB MD informed AIG Sheikh that the board had already identified the site for establishing its police station. He also handed over documents containing the project site map and proposal to the police official.
As per sources, the facility will be established in front of the main KWSB office in Karsaz area. In the first phase, the authorities concerned would provide four vehicles. Moreover, a station house office (SHO), along with other police personnel, will also be deployed at the site.

Provincial Minister for Local Government (LG) Saeed Ghani recently prepared a policy to address the issue of water theft in consultation with the Sindh government.
