Karachi: The Supreme Court-mandated Water Commission has instructed Karachi Water and Sanitation Board (KWSB) and other relevant officials to resolve Lyari’s water issues within ten days and submit a report on the matter, a news source reported. The water commission head Justice (retd.) Ameer Hani Muslim was hearing the case on water and sewerage issues in Sindh.
Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Syed Abdul Rasheed appeared before the commission on the matter. He informed the commission that Lyari gets water from three lines and that starting from Meeran Naka to Askari Park, 29 illegal connections have been provided and these have severely reduced the share of Lyari’s water. He provided pictorial evidence for these illegal connections as well.
The KWSB Managing Director (MD) told the commission that in the past 10 days a number of illegal connections have been disconnected. The commission then instructed everyone involved to work together and resolve Lyari’s water issues within ten days and submit a report on the matter.
