Karachi: The KSE-100 Index has crossed 42,000 index points and posted a record high of 42,480.76 points after almost 16 months — a news source reported. As per the publication, the KSE-100 Index closed on Thursday at 42,480.76 points, after an increase of 1080.76 points or 2.54% due to a positive economic environment.

A day earlier, on January 1, the KSE-100 Index had also accumulated massive gains of 664.92 points or about 1.63%. The index has maintained a rising momentum that began in August last year and after wiping out all the red, provided a return of 10%.

In the week before the new year, the stock market had witnessed massive fluctuations as it began on a negative note on Monday when the KSE-100 share Index plunged by 824.70 points for profit-taking sessions before Christmas holiday, amid absence of positive triggers. However, later on Thursday, it recovered and gained 799.47 points due to positive sentiments among the traders.
