The information was given by KPRA to Minister for Finance Taimur Salim Jhagra during a meeting held under the minister as chair. The meeting was told that the revenue authority faced issues in collection of revenue due to the outbreak of the coronavirus. However, the revenue collection was achieved nonetheless.
Additionally, the meeting was informed that before the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the KPRA was showing an average of 73% growth monthly – that dropped in two months of the pandemic and the lockdown imposed to contain its spread. The minister was also informed that the number of registered taxpayers has exceeded the 11,500 mark. However, the authority also reported a deficit of PKR 700 million in the construction and tourism sectors.
