Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority (KPRA) has introduced a Generic Invoice Monitoring System (GIMS) to facilitate all sales tax-related businesses, a news source reported. KPRA has developed the software in collaboration with KP-IT Board and Code for Pakistan under KP Fellowship Programme.
According to KPRA Director General Tahir Orakzai, GIMS is an automatic monitoring system and would help identify the exact amount of sales tax on services based on the actual sales of the taxpayer.
KPRA is taking several measures, which include digitisation of the authority, to broaden its tax base while extending its outreach and providing taxpayers with better facilities.
In the first phase, GIMS would be deployed in the Peshawar region to receive actual invoices of the consumers and would be gradually extended across KP for all service providers.
Multiple centres are also being set up in various parts of the province. Orakzai said the facilitation centres aims to broaden the tax net and are part of KPRA’s revenue strategy of reforms with special focus on taxpayer facilitation.
