Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mehmood Khan on Saturday (July 23) banned all sorts of construction activities on tourist sites across the province until their master plans are approved, news sources reported. The ban was placed to prevent haphazard construction activities on provincial tourist sites.

Reportedly, CM Mehmood made this decision while chairing a review meeting. He asked the provincial authorities to expedite work on fully functionalising the special purpose development authorities set up for tourist areas to enable the implementation of the master plans. Moreover, orders were issued for the strategy to be finalized within one week for the outsourcing of feasible rest houses along with the revenue generation plan.

Additionally, the meeting also reviewed progress on the road infrastructure projects in tourist sites, including the 22-kilometre-long Mankial-Baddha Serai Road and the 24-kilometre-long Thandiani Road. The meeting was informed that the work orders for both road projects have been issued, and the construction work will start soon.
