Peshawar: Sweden has expressed an interest in developing tourism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), a news source reported. In this regard, Swedish Ambassador Ingrid Johansson met with KP Tourism Minister Atif Khan.
In the meeting, the Swedish envoy expressed her country’s interest in exploring opportunities to promote the tourism sector in the province, which she believed had a rich potential. She particularly mentioned religious tourism.

Johansson stated that in addition to creating religious harmony, the development of religious tourism can play a significant role in enhancing the country’s economy.
The ambassador opined that with tourism development in KP, Pakistan can become a part of the world’s developed countries. She added that proper tourism measures can present a better image of the province to the world.

During the meeting, the tourism minister briefed the ambassador regarding the provincial government’s initiatives for promoting tourism.
Recently, the provincial government also introduced the KP tourism mobile app, which is the first of its kind in Pakistan.
