Peshawar: The Khyber Pkahtunkhwa government will set up its own power distribution system, according to a news report. This statement has come from Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organisation Chairman of Board of Directors Sahibzada Saeed during a meeting attended by various dignitaries.
All present expressed concerns over the power distribution system of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO). The meeting highlighted how purchasing power from WAPDA, following the destruction of Reshun at Chitral during 2015 floods, was creating problems in transmission. The construction and operation of two hydropower projects with a capacity of 54 MW was also highlighted, along with projects such as Koto, Lawi, Matiltan, Jabori, and Karora.
The attendants discussed the importance of province-owned transmission and distribution systems and highlighted the completion of 252 micro-power stations contributing to the overall electrical capacity.
