Peshawar: The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has decided to set up ecotourism villages at various tourist destinations in the province, a news source reported. The decision was taken in a meeting presided over by KP Senior Minister for Tourism and Culture Atif Khan.

During this meeting, which was attended by senior officials from the Tourism Department, the members received a detailed briefing on these villages. Under this project, the KP government will train and facilitate local investors, which in turn will create job opportunities for the local residents.

The provincial government will set up these villages under different phases. In the first phase, ecotourism villages will be set up in the three valleys of Kalash in Chitral, along with various areas of the Hazara Division. Addressing the meeting, Minister Khan said that the idea of ecotourism is getting popular, and is having the desired effect worldwide.

The minister instructed the officers concerned to prepare a feasibility report on setting up these villages on a priority basis.
