Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cabinet on Thursday (June 4) approved the reopening of the local tourism sector in phases; with the province’s resort towns set to re-allow family visits in the first phase, according to a news source. For this purpose, the body also approved SOPs for tourists and the staff working in the region’s hotels and tourist facilities.
The cabinet meeting, which was chaired by KP CM Mehmood Khan, further revealed that the complete details on these SOPs would also be shared via print and electronic media outlets to help raise public awareness. As per the approved SOPs, the owners/managements of hotels would be, henceforth, bound to provide masks, gloves and soaps to their customers. Additionally, they will be required to regularly check their temperatures and ensure social distancing on their premises.
Furthermore, the provincial government will form a tourism association committees to ensure the implementation of these communicated regulations. The district administration officer, hotel staff, and members of the tourism department will also form part of these associations.
Following the sanction of its sector reopening move by the federal government, the KP government will allow the public to travel to all resort towns and tourist destinations inside the province.
