Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced its plans for a cable car project at Kumrat Valley in Upper Dir, according to a news source published on July 24. The proposed cable car will be 14 kilometres-long, and will connect the Madaklasht and Kumrat Valleys.

The decision was made by a meeting of the Tourism Department held under the chair of Chief Minister (CM) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan. The said meeting approved the department’s proposal to conduct the project’s in-depth feasibility study and its engineering design.

The developers believe that the cable car will be the longest and highest cable car in the world, and is estimated to add 8 million local and foreign tourists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The project cost is estimated at PKR 32 billion, and will also generate employment opportunities in the region.
