Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has decided to set up its own power transmission and distribution company, a news source reported.

Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organisation (PEDO) Chairman Nisar Muhammad Khan expressed his views on the matter during a meeting of PEDO’s Board of Governors (BoG) on Tuesday.

Secretary Energy Sarfraz Durrani, Additional Secretary Revenue Akhtar Saeed Turk, Deputy Secretary Home Department Akmal Khattak, and PEDO Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Bahadar Shah were all present at the occasion.

The company proposed will be established on the model of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO). The officials concerned recently submitted proposals to this effect to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).

Moreover, PEDO Chairman Nisar Muhammad Khan directed the officials concerned to submit a proposal for establishing the transmission company to the technical committee.

The participants also discussed PEDO’s administrative matters in detail during the session. They constituted a special committee, which has been tasked with submitting its report to the BoG.
