Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has started work on digitising the land transfer system in Peshawar, a news source reported. These will be linked to the biometric records of individuals.
This will help smoothen the process of land transfers, which under the existing paper system, can result in a number of issues causing delays throughout the process of transferring property in someone else’s name.
The new system is expected to speed up the process and will help make the whole process transparent and accountable. Now anyone looking to transfer land would have to record their thumb impression for biometric record and digital photos of the buyer, seller and witnesses will also be attached. The record will be a part of the district administration’s database as official records.
The KP Chief Minister has also directed that process of land record computerisation be expedited. He gave the orders during a briefing by Board of Revenue about land record computerisation.
