Peshawar: Secretary Energy and Power Department Engineer Syed Imtiaz Hussain Shah on Thursday (November 04) announced the tentative completion timeline of three hydroelectric projects in the province, news sources reported.

As per the details shared, the three projects with a total power generation capacity of 68 Megawatts (MW) are in the final stages of construction in the districts of Mansehra, Shangla, and Dir Lower in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and will be completed in six months.
During his visit to the construction site, the secretary of the power division stated that the three projects will generate low-cost electricity as well as PKR 2 billion annual revenue for the province. During the event, Project Director Koto Hydropower Project Sultan Rome told the visitors that Koto hydropower project with a generation capacity of 40 MW, is 98% complete, with the remaining work expected to be completed soon.

He also stated that the construction of the Karora and Jabori hydroelectric projects is nearing completion, with 90% of the work completed. Furthermore, he stated that if not for the coronavirus epidemic, the project would have been completed by now. The work on the project has been delayed significantly due to restrictions on the import of machinery and the departure of Chinese engineers from their country.
