Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan on Thursday (January 13) approved the draft agreement of Swat Motorway Phase-II under the public-private partnership financing model. The 80-kilometre-long Swat Motorway Phase II Project would be constructed from Chakdara Interchange to Madyan Fatehpur Interchange.

According to reports, the motorway will feature four lanes that may be expanded to six lanes in the future. There will be nine interchanges built along the corridor including Chakdara, Shomozai, Barikot, Mingora, Kanju, Malam Jabba-University of Swat, Sher Palam, Matta-Khwaza Khela, and Madyan-Fatehpur. Similarly, at various locations along the Swat River, eight major bridges would be built along with the construction of four rest stops. It was stated that the government has applied Section IV of the Land Purchase Act-1894 in order to complete the land acquisition on time for the project.

The committee authorised relevant officials to formally sign the agreement with the successful bidder after agreeing to the suggestions on the agreement. Moreover, Mahmood also directed the officials to float the Expression of Interest for Dir Motorway Project without any delay.
