Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government, Department of Home and Tribal Affair, and the National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish and operate a universal Pakistan Emergency Helpline (PEHEL) in the province, according to a news story published on Monday (December 27). This makes KP the first province to arrange for setting up the 911 emergency helpline services.

As per the details, it is the first MoU signed for the initiative of PEHEL 911. Managing Director NTC Miraj Gul Additional Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah, senior officers of NTC, and all provincial secretaries were present at the signing ceremony.

The emergency helpline was established on the directions of Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan. Sources mentioned that NTC was also ordered to develop PEHEL control centres of International Standard in all provinces of Pakistan including Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
