Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has shared the statistics on the people who visited the province’s tourist hotspots over the previous week — with the initiative following the government’s recent decision to lift the province’s COVID-19 lockdown restrictions, a news source reported on August 23.

According to the released data, a total of 627,995 tourists visited the six districts that are popular tourist destinations in the province between August 13 and August 21. Abbottabad received the highest number of tourists, with nearly 356,400 people visiting the popular holiday destination, while Swat received 189,596 tourists; Mansehra received 65,350 tourists; Lower Chitral received 9,800 tourists; and Lower Dir received 3,000 tourists.

In related news, in a bid to promote tourism in the province following the end of the lockdown restrictions, the provincial government has decided to construct 7 rest houses at major tourist spots in KP. These rest houses will be constructed at Salhad, Abbottabad; Harnoi, Abbottabad; Bahrain Kalam Road, Swat; Malam Jabba; Charbagh; Buni, Upper Chitral; Allai Battagram; and Lower Tunnel Chitral.
