Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) recorded an annual growth of 42% in the first quarter of the Financial Year (FY) 2019-20, a news source reported. Meanwhile, KP Finance Minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra lauded the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for increasing its revenues in the first quarter by an annual 13.5%.

According to sources, the revenue growth was significant in each of the three months of the quarter in KP. Jhagra expressed his appreciation for the KP Revenue Authority (KPRA). He added that the authority was improving its performance with each passing day.
The finance minister stated that they were able to achieve the revenue target due to the hard work of KPRA. He also acknowledged the cooperation of all stakeholders and service providers. He added that the authority has maintained its conventional record of achieving revenue targets.
Jhagra said that they have initiated a monthly evaluation of the KPRA in order to ensure efficiency. He added that they would make reforms based on four significant factors. These include
- Increase in registration of taxpayers
- Awareness & facilitation of taxpayers
- Boosting organisational efficiency
- Improvement of enforcement & compliance

The finance minister stated that the incumbent government’s reforms had led to an increase in revenue generation and expansion of the tax net.
