Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government on Wednesday (October 13) announced its plan to propose a 5- to 10-year tax holiday to incentivize investment in the province’s tourism industry, news sources reported. The government has also sought a response from the Ministries of Finance and National Revenue to this effect.

Reportedly, the tax exemption will be offered to the investors for building tourism infrastructure or construction of four-star international standard hotels in the proposed Integrated Tourism Zones (ITZs).
In response to the government offer, AJM Planning and Urban Design Group (APUDG), a Malaysian hotel group, has proposed to develop four tourist-specific zones in the province in order to boost the tourism sector and attract more visitors from across the world.

The group’s Managing Director (MD) Norliza Hashim stated that the company has formulated a master plan for four tourism zones: Mankial (Swat), Thandiani (Abbottabad), Ganol (Mansehra), and Madaklasht (Lower Chitral). The tourist attractions will be developed as part of the proposed plan, along with a road network and the building of a 428-room hotel and a tourist resort in the Thandiani Integrated Tourism Zone.
