Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Wednesday (January 27) with international firms to invest in ‘Pakistan Digital City’, news sources reported. Companies who begin operations in Digital City will benefit from a ten-year tax break on customs duties, taxes, and General Sales Tax (GST).

The MoU was signed on the sidelines of the Dubai Expo 2020 in the Pakistan Pavillion. Provincial minister of KP for Science and Technology Atif Khan said that the city will provide exceptional services with state of the art technology infrastructure and fast track one window investment process. This will reduce time to set up new companies and increase compliance. Similarly, the Special Technology Zone Authority (STZA) is established to assist youngsters, freelancers, and technology firms in flourishing with the infrastructure given. Pakistan Digital City, according to the Managing Director (MD) KP IT Board Ali Mahmoud, is facilitating a systematic digital transformation in the province by harnessing information and communication technology for job creation, connection, empowerment, and inclusive economic growth.

Pakistan Digital City is being established in the KP district of Haripur, close to the federal capital of Islamabad. Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan announced the initiative on January 17.
