Islamabad: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Minister for Tourism Atif Khan on Tuesday announced the government’s measures for the development of recreational and religious tourism sites in the province, a news source reported. He said that the executive had commenced with the construction work on hotels at sacred places to accommodate both foreign and local tourists.

According to Khan, religious tourism will not only create opportunities for Pakistan to increase its revenue, but it will also portray a peaceful and positive image of the country in the international community.
He said that KP was home to beautiful landscapes; which were considered ideal destinations for both local and international tourists to visit. He added that the development of tourism sector would create employment opportunities; something which would facilitate the national economic growth.

Moreover, the minister stated that tourism was a top priority of the current government. Policies were being drafted and implemented every day for the growth and promotion of the sector, he added. He said that the provincial government intended to make the use of electronic, print and social media for the tourism sector’s promotion.
