Peshawar: The housing department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has decided to launch two housing programmes in the province within the next two months, news sources reported. The projects include Tokra-III Housing Scheme on Peshawar Ring Road and a multi-storey apartment scheme in Mardan.

The decision in this regard was made at a meeting of the Provincial Housing Department, which was presided over by Chief Minister Mahmood Khan. The meeting also revealed that the Tokra-III Housing project will contain 1,080 units spread across 79 kanals. The project design is already in the works and will be finalised shortly before the project is launched next month. Furthermore, the meeting also received an update on the high-rise housing project in Mardan, which would encompass 2.17-kanal of land and be completed in October of this year.
The said meeting also reviewed the progress of various projects, the details of which are as follows:
The development work on the development of the Hangu Housing Society will start soon. The balloting of 2,510 residential plots of Jalozai Housing Scheme Phase III has been completed. Similarly, the Jalozai Flats project, a 150-kanal project consisting of 1,320 flats, has received 750 applications. To encourage more participation, the last date of the submission of the application has been extended to August 31 (Tuesday).

Warsak Peshawar project comprising 144 flats and Warsak-II comprising 112 flats are ready for a launch. The consultation and design work for the 35.8-kanal and 650 apartments high rise building in Nishtarabad Peshawar is also underway. As many as 53 plots of 3.5 marlas are available for allocation in the Dheri Zardad Charsadda project – where the total number of plots is 458.

The master plan 836 apartment project of Dangram Housing Scheme in Swat is also completed. Moreover, the on-site survey of the Surizai Housing Scheme in Peshawar covering an area of 8,500 kanals of various sizes of plots and flats is also launched. The meeting was also informed that the land for the project has been identified in several areas to establish low-cost housing schemes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s peri-urban regions.
