Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cabinet (KP) on Thursday (June 4) approved the draft of the ‘KP Land Acquisition Rules 2020’ along with the formation of the Galiyat Development Authority (GDA) Board of Authority, a news source reported. The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by KP Chief Minister Mehmood Khan.

The Land Acquisition Rules 2020 are to be applicable in the merged tribal areas. To facilitate their implementation, the cabinet decided that all local traditions would be fully considered while acquiring land in these locations – and further verified by a National Commission comprising advisors from the individual tribes concerned. Additionally, the said body will give its advice on the land acquisition process.

As per the information shared by the Advisor to KP CM on Information and Public Relations Ajmal Wazir, the GDA Board of Authority is to consist of 5 private members, four government representatives, and 2 members from the KP provincial assembly. The board has been set up to promote tourism activities in both Galiyat and Abbottabad.

In addition to these approvals, the cabinet also sanctioned the establishment of Heritage Field Schools in the province. These institutes aim to provide archeological training to the youth in order to help them utilize their talent in a province popularly considered to be a rich haven of historical attractions.
