Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has approved 21 uplift schemes aimed at developing the province’s tribal districts, according to a news report. These projects will develop both the settled and newly-merged districts at a cost of around PKR 19.97 billion.

The sectors covered under the initiative will include healthcare, education, and administrative services; along with the upgradation of relief and rehabilitation facilities. The allocated funds will be used to improve these sectors in the tribal districts.
The KP Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) discussed these projects at a meeting held on Wednesday, which was chaired by Additional Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan.

The session attendees discussed a total of 24 projects related to agriculture, health, water, relief and rehabilitation, revenue, urban development, multisectoral development, auqaf, home, and forestry. Three of these projects were referred to their relevant departments for rationalisation, while the rest were approved. Some have been nominated under the Accelerated Implementation Programme (AIP) and are set to be prioritised during the development phases.
