Peshawar: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Minister for Local Government, Elections, and Rural Development Shahram Khan Tarakai announced on Thursday that the provincial government planned on expanding its Community-driven Local Development (CDLD) Programme to the newly merged tribal districts, according to a news source.

The minister made this announcement during a meeting held in this regard. He further expressed his satisfaction with the previous results of this programme’s implementation across various districts of the province. He also revealed that there would soon be a meeting with the European Union’s (EU) Ambassador regarding this development scheme.

Under this programme, various projects are expected to be developed in far-flung areas of the province, in order to bring about a positive change in people’s lives. The CDLD programme was jointly started by the EU and the KP Budget support programme, and was launched in 13 districts of the province. With this planned expansion into the merged districts, the scheme is set to benefit an even larger number of people, and will also help promote provincial welfare.
