Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Minister for Information Shaukat Yousafzai has announced the government’s intention to take strict action against contractors and government officials found using substandard construction materials, a news source reported.

Yousafzai took notice of reports on usage of substandard material in several projects in district Shangla. In response, he sought report from the district administration on this matter within 24 hours. He also hinted at taking strict action against contractors and officials found guilty. He added that the incumbent government would not let anything disturb the progress of development in district Shangla.
The information minister also directed the departments concerned to initiate action against contractors responsible for delays and compromise on material quality pertaining to development projects. He added that the guilty should be taken to task.

Yousafzai also instructed the relevant departments against releasing payment to contractors until they ensure the use of quality construction material in development projects. He added that if payment was given to contractors who failed to utilise quality construction material, then the government would recover the money from the officials of the departments concerned.
