Mansehra: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has sanctioned PKR 1.5 billion for the construction of the 15-kilomtetre-long Datta-Kotkay Road in a bid to ease traffic load on the Abbottabad Road, a news source reported on October 20.

To this effect, MPA Babar Saleem Swati stated that the provincial executive had disbursed PKR 250 million out of the total PKR 1.5 billion for land acquisition; adding that the road project was part of the government’s Annual Development Programme (ADP).
He said that the new road link would reduce the travelling distance between Abbottabad and Mansehra in addition to providing the tourists from Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan an alternative route to reach the Kaghan Valley.

Moreover, he that the authorities concerned had identified a chunk of land between Datta and Kotkay for the project and would issue tenders following the completion of the land acquisition process, which was expected to be carried out on a timely basis.
