Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has formulated a draft of the ‘Industrial Policy 2020-30’, a news source reported. Under the strategy, the provincial executive aims to provide various incentives for attracting investment for the province’s industrial sector and generating employment for the youth.

It has shared the draft with the business community in order to include their recommendations in the proposed policy. The draft details a number of fiscal, financial, and non-financial incentives for the industrial sector.
These incentives will apply to all industrial estates, as well as to industries outside these estates. Also, the policy’s many incentives will apply to industries established within the Newly Merged Districts (NMDs). The proposed policy also addresses women entrepreneurs and the facilitation of Small & Medium Business Enterprises (SMEs).

For Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in KP, the policy emphasises the formation of a one-window utility for facilitating the licencing, registration, simplification of documentation procedures, and regulatory awareness and compliance. The KP Board of Investment & Trade and the KP Economic Zones Development & Management Company (KP-EZDMC) will jointly operate this one-window facility.
