Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has decided to establish South Waziristan Education City – spanning 7,000 kanals – for the residents of the merged districts, news sources reported on April 24. The first phase of the PKR 2.5 project will be completed in two years.

As per the reports, South Waziristan Education City will be established in the Mehsud dominated area of Barwand. The project will have campuses of leading universities, colleges and schools for male and female students. Talking to the media, the Project Director of the Education City project, Dr Najeebullah, said that the government will only construct road infrastructure, boundary walls, sewerage system, and electrification while the rest of the project will be executed through a public-private partnership. The locals have donated the land for the project to the government, saving billions for the government.

Moreover, in the first phase of the project, the government will build state-of-the-art sports facilities for people by establishing complexes, a cricket stadium and a football ground. At the same time, a solar park of one megawatt would also be installed.
