Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has decided to open four of its rest houses, including the Chief Minister’s House and the Governor House, to the general public – a news source reported.
As per officials, the government – by offering its buildings for bookings and accommodations – hopes to generate additional revenue for itself. Previously, these spaces required taxpayer’s funds for maintenance.

According to KP Minister for Tourism and Sports Mohammad Atif Khan, all the requirements concerning the launch of this initiative have been completed, and bookings can be made on the website of the Tourism Corporation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Apart from the abovementioned facilities, the Police House and the Karnak House have also been opened to the public. The rate list for these accommodations is given below:
- Police House: PKR 12,000
- Karnak House: PKR 18,000
- Chief Minister House: PKR 24,000
- Governor House: PKR 40,000
Khan added that the government had planned to open 174 rest houses located all over the province; with 47 openings scheduled to take place in the first phase and 100 in the next one.
