Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government on Sunday announced the early opening of labourer facilitation centres in each provincial district to ensure the provision of basic life and livelihood grants, a news source reported.

KP Minister Information Shaukat Yousufzai revealed that the labourers across the province could register themselves with their nearest social security centre – free of cost. He added that the public should be helping the labourers with their registration process, in case they are unable to so on their own.
Yousufzai highlighted that the labourer facilitation centres would provide dowry funds, death grants, and various other allowances to the registered members, apart from provisions of death pension, disability pension, and education scholarships for their children.
The minister also announced dedicating a helpline number (091-9211546) for daily wagers to file complaints against factory owners refusing to cooperate. He added that provincial government has also guided the Director Labour for collecting data on all employees at commercial plazas, hotels, and industrial units in KP.

As per reports, the provincial government would soon make legal amendments to the labour laws for implanting a new social security system, Yousufzai said and added that efforts we underway for organising special training and counselling sessions in labour colonies. He explained that these sessions would teach workers about their legal rights and how to go about exercising these rights with the government’s help.
