Peshawar: The provincial government has announced its decision to initiate a construction project for access roads to tourist sites in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), according to a news source. This is being done in a bid to promote tourism in the country.

A high-priority meeting was recently held and the attendees were informed that PC-1s for access road to Sheikh Badin (Lakki Marwat), the upgradation of the 24km Thandiani Road (Abbottabad) and Mankyal Road (Swat) had been approved by the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP).
The meeting was supervised under KP Chief Minister Mahmood Khan and the object was to review the progress on the various projects relating to tourism, health and education. Mr Khan was informed that work on a number of access roads to tourist locations was in progress and the completion of said roads would lead to a substantial increase in tourism in the country.

Furthermore, the cost estimation and designing of other three access road, namely, 40km Kalam-Kumrat Road (Swat), 52km Patrak Kumrat Tori Oba Road (Upper Dir) and 16km Thal Jahaz Banda Road (Upper Dir) have also been completed. Lastly, on the topic of tourism, the establishment of rescue stations at five different tourist sites was underway and 73 camping pods had been setup so far in different areas of the province.
