Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government is near meeting the tax target of the ongoing fiscal year (FY) 2018-19, a news source reported. This is the first time ever that the provincial government has come close to the tax collection target for a single fiscal year. It has collected PKR 41.08 billion so far.

An official from the KP Finance Department has revealed that the provincial government had a target of collecting PKR 41.46 billion in taxes for the FY 2018-19. The official added that they collected PKR 23.11 billion in provincial taxes and generated another PKR 17.43 billion in revenues. He also stated that the provincial government aims to surpass the set target, and expects to increase this target in FY 2019-20.

Meanwhile, the federal government assured the KP government that it will provide all possible support for the needs of the newly merged tribal districts. The federal government plans to reserve funds for the FATA region in the upcoming budget.
